Our Strategies

The Foundation has a longstanding commitment to Catholic elementary and high school education, especially for low income children and their families. Urban Catholic education has historically served as a gateway out of poverty for generations of inner city residents; we hope to preserve and strengthen this vital resource for current and future generations.

As a crisis in Catholic education sweeps our nation and challenges our local schools and parishes, the Foundation has shifted its strategy away from tuition assistance toward achieving a proactive partnership with the Diocese of Oakland.  Together we strive to address the urgent and systemic challenges to our urban schools by creating new models of funding, governance, and academic excellence.
